    Description

This is a vinyl cover for some Heathkit equipment and it appears to be VERY rare; I was not able to find one on either eBay's or Worthpoint's websites. I even looked for pictures in Google Images but with no luck.
I think it was meant for something computer-related but I cannot say for sure. I just know that my dad purchased practically every computer kit that Heathkit ever sold, i.e. - H8, H9, H14, H17, H19, H77, H88, and H89. I do not remember which of these devices that this might have covered. Given how tall it is I wonder if it may be for multiple pieces of equipment, stacked. Its dimensions are 16" wide, 12.5" high, and 13.5" deep.  The cut-out in the back measures 16" wide by 7" high. I do not know who manufactured this item. Given that the font used for the "Heathkit" text matches exactly the one used on Heathkit's serial number labels, I assume it had to be either Heathkit themselves or a licensed third-party. I have included a picture of one of the serial number labels to show how the fonts match up. This cover is in very good condition. There no rips or tears and it is very clean except for a small black blemish on the top (see picture). This might clean up easily but I have decided to leave this up to the buyer. Please remember I just think it is for something in Heathkit's computer line, I cannot say for sure.
If you haven't seen any of my other Heathkit listings, a little history...
This is one of more than a dozen vintage Heath/Zenith items that I will be posting. Some will be for actual kits, e.g., H8 computer, Hero-1 robot, etc. Others will be for software, documentation, books, or accessories. Many are very rare. All of the items were purchased by my father in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Everything is being sold AS-IS with no warranty. While I cannot attest to the functionality of the kits, I can speak to their quality, having all been built by my father. During Heathkit's popularity, he built at least 50 kits, ranging from a simple resistor substitution box to the complex 25" solid state color TV. All the items have been stored in smoke-free, air-conditioned, environments. I probably will not be able to answer any technical questions but I can provide additional pictures, if needed.
