Gorgeous handmade museum grade core memory stack from the 1950s. One of the few computer artifacts that can actually be considered a proper antique. Will outlast us all if you take good care of it. I've collected core memories for 25 years and I've never seen anything like this stunning stack before (or after), not even in professional museums. Cores are huge: 4mm in diameter, see standard match head for reference in one of the photos. Has core on both front- and backside.
This stack has the ideal dimensions for easy handling and framing. First generation core memories are impossible to find these days; there were never many made in the first place!
I was lucky enough to buy a small selection of these stacks from an ex-field service engineer decades ago. Over the years I sold three of the exact same memories and below are the reactions of the buyers upon receiving the stack:
-----
Dude, it's arrived. Seriously this is a case of love. I don't know how you parted with it, but I'll keep her safe and love her. What a beauty.
-----
Just letting you know that the memory board has arrived safely. It sure is a lovely thing to behold. I must say that the memory board is beautifully designed and made - certainly well above the design and build quality I'd generally expect for electronics of that era.
-----
I opened the box - WOW it is beautiful. Other core memory boards that I have are about 5 inches square.
