    Description

    OK -
this is a weird and dangerous onel
I've always  worked on Zeiss Ikon Moviscop 16mm Viewers.  They are great - but they have a few quirks.  One of the most annoying ones is that they used a proprietary Power Cord.  It looks normal in the pictures, but it is a size smaller, and nothing you have will work. Check the last photo - it shows an original, and a replacement which is a computer power socket that fits the case exactly.   When I repaired them, I would always replace the old socket with the new one & computer cord.
But before I got smart, I tried a real strange idea.  Since the plug needed to be smaller in width between the pins, I decided to take a cord and firmly tape it to a piece of wood.  Then I turned on my table saw, and ran the plug across the blade a couple of times.  Scared the hell out of me, but it worked perfectly.  No exposed wires, and just enough give to fit the pins.
So I have one left that fits the original plug and works great.  If I get crazy again, I'll try to make some more.  Until then - this is a one of a kind.
Includes Reprint of the Moviscop Booklet, and article on how to Clean a Moviscop without damaging it.  (Moviscops have a Bakelite Slide Plate that is a "Wear Part."  YOU DO NOT REMOVE IT to clean the viewer.  If you do remove it, there is a 99% chance you will break out the screw holes - replacements are not available.  If you disassemble the film movement - you will lose alignment and restoring it is Trial & Error - (LOTS of Trial & Error.)  Mirrors are front coated and easily scratched.
You'll want to wait for the article before cleaning it....  If you are not comfortable working on a precision instrument such as the Zeiss Ikon Moviscop - find an older Camera Repair Shop or watch repair shop in your area and take the article with you.
